Land Use and Zoning

Our attorneys help developers, municipalities, private citizens and environmental organizations navigate the complexities of local zoning, land use control laws and ordinances involving special use permits, site plan and subdivision approval, variance applications, "non-conforming use" determinations and requests for interpretations of zoning laws.

In recent years, our land use attorneys have appeared before local zoning and planning boards on projects such as shopping center construction and expansion, industrial facilities, sand and gravel mines, resort hotel/condominium development, residential subdivision projects, expansion of television broadcast facilities, cellular tower siting, and conversion of residential structures to commercial use. Such projects usually involve compliance with the substance and procedure of the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) and various state and federal environmental laws in addition to local zoning laws. Our attorneys are recognized as experts in these areas of law.

Should litigation services be required, our clients know they can confidently rely on our skills in the courtroom.
