James A. LaValle joined Young/Sommer in 2023 and focuses his areas of practice on environmental, land, municipal, and telecommunications law. Prior to joining Young/Sommer, James worked as an Assistant County Attorney in the Mid-Hudson Valley, where he regularly worked on environmental, land, and general municipal law. James also spent time in Rochester, NY where he worked as an associate attorney, focusing on mergers, acquisitions, and general corporate transactional matters.
James graduated from Siena College in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Pre-Law Certification before receiving his J.D. from Albany Law School in 2021. While at Albany Law, James was a quarterfinalist for the Donna Jo Morse Negotiation Competition and represented the school’s chapter of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity at the organization’s annual International Mock Trial Competition.
James currently assists in representation of clients across numerous types of environmental, land, municipal, and telecommunications law matters, and has appeared before planning and zoning boards across New York State.
